Kona man arrested on multiple drug offenses

HAWAII, Hawaii (KHON2) — Police on Hawaiʻi Island have arrested and charged a Kona man, 54, with numerous drugs and firearms offenses following a drug bust.

Shortly after 6 a.m. on June 26, police executed a search warrant at the residence of William Kaohu.

During their search of the property, police recovered more than 12 pounds of methamphetamine and related paraphernalia, nearly two pounds of marijuana, three ounces of cocaine, 19 Oxycodone pills, a .22 caliber rifle, multiple rounds of ammunition, more than $21,300 and more.

Kahou was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple offenses, which are as follows:

  • Five counts of first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug
  • Two counts of ownership prohibited
  • Two counts of cruelty to animals
  • First-degree promotion of a detrimental drug
  • Third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug
  • Third-degree promotion of a harmful drug
  • Tampering with evidence

His bail has been set at $669,000 and is currently in custody awaiting his initial appearance in court.
