HONOLULU (KHON2) — A 7-year-old girl who was injured in an e-bike crash two weeks ago has died, according to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD).
The child was riding her e-bike near her Ewa Beach home when the accident occurred.
Her mother spoke with reporters last week, recounting that she had been spending time in their garage after school before deciding to ride down the street.
The crash happened approximately 10 minutes later.
HPD confirmed that the child was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The death has renewed calls from traffic safety advocates for more awareness and precautions regarding e-bike use.
