HONOLULU (KHON2) — Tiki’s Grill & Bar is a popular restaurant in Waikīkī known for its Pacific Rim cuisine and the aloha spirit.
Their popularity has inspired them to expand to Japan with the grand opening of Tiki’s Tokyo in Shibuya on April 25.
The new restaurant is located at Yoyogi Park BE STAGE and will bring a taste of Hawaiʻi to the heart of one of Tokyo’s busiest districts.
Tiki’s Tokyo is a collaboration between Tiki’s SHIBUYA Limited Liability Partnership and Tiki’s Grill & Bar. This marks the first Tiki’s restaurant outside Hawaiʻi and is a special part of the growing connection between Honolulu and its sister city, Shibuya.
Tiki’s Tokyo will celebrate the relationship by offering a unique blend of food cultures from Hawaiʻi and Japan. This will include some of the original Tiki’s most popular dishes.
The Tokyo-based restaurant will seat 160 people and will have a dog-friendly area for 78 guests that comes complete with a special menu for pets.
Bill Tobin, who is managing partner and co-founder of Tiki’s Grill & Bar in Waikīkī, is quite excitement about the expansion.
“For more than 20 years, we have brought the spirit of Aloha to our guests through great food, handcrafted cocktails, and warm hospitality,” Tobin said. “We’re looking forward to Tiki’s Tokyo bringing that same kind of feeling to their guests in Japan.”
He added that opening in Tokyo was a special opportunity to share Hawaiʻi’s warm hospitality with Japan, and he’s eager to see how the people of Tokyo react to the new island-inspired dining experience.
Tiki’s Tokyo will offer a relaxing escape in the middle of the busy city. Its location by Yoyogi Park means diners can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by greenery. The restaurant’s “Always Aloha” philosophy will make guests feel like part of the family, with a welcoming vibe and delicious food.
The Yoyogi Park BE STAGE complex is part of a larger project that promotes cultural exchange between Shibuya and Honolulu.
The collaboration aims to create a space where people in Shibuya can experience Hawaiʻi more closely.
The sister-city agreement between the two cities, signed in May 2024, focuses on strengthening cultural ties and international cooperation. The new Tiki’s Tokyo restaurant is a key part of this mission.
