HONOLULU (KHON2) — Big Island police are investigating a fatal single-car crash that claimed the life of a woman in her 40s on Sunday night.
Authorities said the woman was driving on Makuʻu Drive when her vehicle crashed into a rock wall.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Police believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
They also noted that the woman was not wearing a seatbelt and may have been distracted while driving at the time of the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
