HONOLULU (KHON2) — Dinosaurs stampeded through the Kapolei Commons on June 28, in celebration of the new “Jurassic World” movie.
Families got into inflatable dinosaur costumes for the Dino Dash, where the fastest dino reigns supreme.
“It was really close. Yeah, I got a lot of fast dinosaurs out there,” said Isaiah Aquino, a fast-footed dinosaur. “My kids love dinosaurs, so I was gonna let them see me run.”
According to Kate Kaanapu, the Kapolei Commons marketing director, the dino costumers were provided to participants, with racers allowed to keep their new look.
“I watched an inflatable dinosaur race on YouTube and thought it was hilarious, and in working with the theater, with the new movie coming out, we were like, it’s a perfect opportunity to do something like that here,” Kaanapu said. “It’s just really fun.”
The first-place dinosaur won a year-long unlimited movie pass at Regal Theaters and four passes to the Jurassic Adventure Tour at Kualoa Ranch.
