Early morning blaze destroys Waipahu home

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A two-alarm fire tore through a residential building in Waipahu early Wednesday morning, leaving the structure in ruins.

According to the Honolulu Fire Department a call was received at 12:57 a.m. about a fire near Hula Street.

Crews were dispatched to the scene with the first crew arriving at 1:07 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the home fully engulfed in flames.

The flames were brought under control by 1:34 a.m., although the building collapsed during the operation.

Crews shifted to a defensive strategy to protect nearby structures.

No injuries were reported, and all personnel were safely accounted for.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire and how much damage it caused.
