WAIKIKI, Hawaii (KHON2) — The Easter Bunny paid a special visit to the Hale Koa Hotel in Waikiki for an Easter Gala hosted by Wounded Warriors Ohana.
Hundreds of wounded warriors and their families were brought together on Saturday, April 19, at the hotel’s Luau Garden, which featured a variety of activities.
Guests were treated to an ono buffet brunch, live music, prizes, exotic birds, magicians and more.
Of course, the Easter celebration wouldn’t have been complete without an Easter egg hunt.
“We do this because when we gather our wounded warriors, we call it a healing event. They get out and start talking to their families, they talk to each other and it’s a lot of healing that goes on when you have an event like this,” said Richard Rankin, Wounded Warrior Ohana President.
Rankin added that events like these give military families everything they deserve and more.
“We have the wounded warriors and their families to include the little children. They’re going to have a blast today because they’re going to be chasing after the eggs and you’ll see the smiles on their faces when they come back out.”
Wounded Warriors Ohana hosts these kinds of events every month, which can include whale-watching cruises, zoo days, catamaran sails and more.
