HONOLULU (KHON2) — A carbon dioxide leak at a store on Kuʻulei Road early Tuesday morning led to an evacuation, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.
Fire crews were called to 256 Kuʻulei Road around 5:20 a.m. Three units responded, including a Hazardous Materials (HazMat) team with 11 firefighters.
Officials confirmed a CO₂ gas leak inside the building and evacuated all occupants as a safety precaution.
HazMat crews secured the leak and conducted air sampling to check for lingering gas.
The store was allowed to reopen once it was confirmed that conditions were safe.
All responding personnel were accounted for, and no injuries were reported during the incident, HFD said.
