In this week’s edition, we sit down with newly appointed University of Hawai‘i Athletics Director Matt Elliott, who opens up about his excitement for the role, his goals for the department, and UH’s place in the ever-evolving landscape of collegiate athletics.
Elliott also shares personal stories from his journey, from meeting his wife in Hawai‘i two decades ago, to beginning his career in college sports administration at UCLA, and ultimately making the decision to return to the islands to raise his family. His homecoming couldn’t have come at a better time, as he now takes the helm of the state’s only Division I athletics program.
