The University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team outlasted Pepperdine 25-16, 25-22, 22-25, 21-25, 15-9 on Saturday night.
The Rainbow Wahine earned a series split with the Waves (1-3) to exit the weekend 3-1.

A Stan Sheriff Center crowd of 5,266 watched as the Rainbow Wahine closed out their weekend with their second five-setter in a row.
After taking their first loss of the 2024 season to the Waves on Friday, the Rainbow Wahine opened with a convincing Set 1 victory, their first opening set win of the season, with Stella Adeyemi registering four kills in four swings. The Rainbow Wahine took the second set, only to see the Waves force a fifth set by taking the next two.
With the fifth and deciding set tied at 8, the Rainbow Wahine pulled away with a 7-1 run to close out the contest out.
Three players for the Rainbow Wahine had double-doubles, led by Caylen Alexander, who had 25 kills and 16 digs. Meanwhile, Tali Hakas added 10 kills and 15 digs, while setter Kate Lang had a match-high 57 assists and 14 digs.
For Pepperdine, Birdie Hendrickson had 25 kills and 10 digs, while Grace Chillingworth added 16 kills and 19 digs.
Next up for Hawaii is a 7 p.m. home contest against Texas State on Tuesday, one of two home contests against the Bobcats next week, with the other matchup coming on Sept. 14.
