HONOLULU (KHON2) — Honolulu Fire Department is battling yet another brush fire which broke out in Nanakuli.
The fire started shortly after 5:15 p.m. on July 7 on a mountain near Lualualei Naval Road and Paakea Road.
Officials say that the blaze is about 80% contained on the Lualualei side, having scorched about 75 acres so far.
“We don’t have any challenges as far as wind,” said Jaimie Song with the Honolulu Fire Department. “The wind lightened up a little bit, it’s still there, but it’s not challenging the firefighters in any way. There aren’t any homes threatened at this time, no evacs needed at this time.”
HFD confirmed that they will investigate the cause of the fire once the flames are extinguished.
