HFD rescues ill hiker from Diamond Head Crater Trail

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Honolulu Fire Department responded to a 911 call just before 2:45 p.m. on March 30 reporting a sick hiker on the Diamond Head Crater Trail.

The first unit arrived within several minutes, where first responders were then able to traverse the trail on foot to reach the hiker.

Authorities were then able to arrive at the hiker’s location, who is described as a female in her 40s. According to HFD, the woman had become ill while hiking and was unable to complete the trail on her own.

First responders provided medical assistance before airlifting the hiker to a landing zone, where she was then transferred over to Emergency Medical Services.
