HPD investigating multiple shootings in Waianae, Maili

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Honolulu police have opened multiple attempted murder investigations after two shootings occurred in Waianae and Maili.

According to an HPD social media post, on July 4 just after midnight at Maili Beach Park, a 22-year-old male was camping with family and friends when a 16-year-old male approached him in the parking lot.

After a brief exchange, the 22-year-old was shot and the suspect fled in a black vehicle, HPD said.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and took the victim to a nearby hospital in serious condition.

Additionally, HPD confirmed that around 12:30 a.m. in Waianae, a 25-year-old male had just arrived home when an unknown suspect in a silver Toyota Corolla drove by and fired multiple rounds.

The suspect missed the victim but shot his vehicle.
