HONOLULU (KHON2) — Kauai police have arrested two men in connection with a sexual assault case involving two juveniles in Hanamā‘ulu earlier this month.
Robert Clement, 28, and Patelo Paseka, 27, were each arrested on warrants for first-degree sexual assault, according to the Kauai Police Department (KPD). Bail for both suspects was set at $100,000.
The incident was reported to police on June 3. Following an investigation, KPD identified the two suspects and obtained arrest warrants. Clement was taken into custody on Friday, June 20, while Paseka was arrested Monday, June 23.
“I want to commend our detectives for their outstanding work on this case,” said KPD Chief Kalani Ke. “They started with very little information or leads, but through persistence and skilled investigation, they identified and arrested those responsible.”
The U.S. Marshals Service assisted in the arrest of one of the suspects.
“We remain firmly committed to supporting the Kauai Police Department and the community in holding violent offenders accountable,” said Justin Davis, U.S. Marshal for the District of Hawaii.
