HONOLULU (KHON2) — A motorcyclist is dead following a crash in the eastbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway on Wednesday, April 9.
According to the Honolulu Police Department, the incident happened around 9:45 p.m. near the North Nimitz Highway exit in the Airport area.
The 27-year-old male motorcyclist was heading east on the freeway when he lost control of the motorcycle.
Officials said the motorcyclist was then thrown off the motorcycle and onto the roadway and added that the bike continued on before colliding with another motorist.
Paramedics with Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene shortly after the crash and took the motorcyclist to an area hospital in critical condition.
HPD said the man later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

This death marks Oahu’s 21st traffic fatality of 2025, compared to nine fatalities in 2024.
