HAWAII, Hawaii (KHON2) — Pele began her Sunday morning with 500-foot lava fountains out of Kīlauea.
The 27th episode of the Halemaʻumaʻu eruption began at 9:05 a.m. on June 29, with fountain heights expected to increase as the day goes on.
Prior to this episode, there were small, sporadic dome fountains in the volcano’s north vent that began just before 7:30 a.m.
USGS officials are warning the public about the effects of volcanic emissions, such as vog and Pele’s hair that may be carried from the volcano by the winds.
This is another episode in the series of activity since Kīlauea’s initial eruption on Dec. 23, 2024.
