HONOLULU (KHON2) — Haleiwa Beach Park will be full of community events from Friday, June 20 to Sunday, June 22.
Among the events planned are the North Shore Hanapa’a Jackpot Fishing Tournament, Haleiwa Arts Festival and Na ʻOhana O Na Hui Waʻa Paddling Regatta.
The Hanapa’a fishing tournament will take place from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Haleiwa Beach Park and Boat Harbor on Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21. Over 300 attendees are expected.
During the tournament, contestants will compete for cash prizes determined by the size of the fish.
On Saturday, June 21, the Haleiwa Arts Festival will make its 26th annual return at Haleiwa Beach Park and continue until Sunday, June 22. Festivities will begin at 10 a.m. and close by 5 p.m. Police officials expect more than 6,000 people to attend.
The non-profit event showcases the talent of local artists whose mediums range from painting, sculpture, photography, live music performances, dance and more.
Na ʻOhana O Na Hui Waʻa’s paddling regatta on Saturday, June 21, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. is set to have 3,000 attendees.
According to social media, the Haleiwa Outrigger Canoe Club will be hosting a school supplies drive at the event. Monetary donations sponsor a backpack of school supplies for students.
The club will issue a raffle ticket for every $25 or more of school supplies donated. Raffle prizes include a bike and a paddle.
Police officials caution drivers heading to Haleiwa on June 20 through June 22 to prepare and plan ahead. Limited parking and heavy traffic is expected.
