HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Independence Day celebration at Schofield Barracks on July 4 will be limited to Department of Defense ID cardholders and their guests.
Army officials say all guests of DOD ID cardholders must provide a proper ID at the base access points.
The limitation is due to changes in Force Protection Conditions. The condition levels range from lowest to highest and most protective conditions: Normal, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta.
“The most important aspect in organizing these kinds of events is the safety of our guests,” said Col. Rachel Sullivan, U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii commander. “This was the right decision, understanding how special this holiday is for our community, and trying to strike a balance.”
Officials say public access will resume for future events when conditions permit.
