HONOLULU (KHON2) — Over 7,800 racers crossed the finish line at the 2025 Hapalua–Hawaiʻi’s Half Marathon on April 13, marking the largest half marathon event to date in the islands.
Approximately 3,000 participants were guests to the islands, looking to experience the aloha spirit while traversing the Waikiki streets.
The half marathon followed a scenic course through Waikiki and around Diamond Head, with the finish line being in Kapiolani Park. At the end of the course, participants were greeted with a finisher’s festival, complete with live entertainment and food.
Hapalua also treated every finisher to a fresh malasada, which is tradition for both the half marathon and Honolulu Marathon.
Tsegay Tuemay Wldlibanos was the first place male runner, completing the half marathon in an hour and four minutes, with Australia’s Sarah Klein being the first place female runner, finishing in an hour and 17 minutes.
Entry for the 2026 Hapalua opens on April 14 for one week only, with low pricing for those eager to get their spot reserved well in advance. For more information, visit Hapalua’s website.
