HONOLULU (KHON2) — The state Department of Law Enforcement is hoping to get more guns off the streets with another “Gun Buyback Program” incentive.
Oahu residents with firearms are encouraged to head to Aloha Stadium on Saturday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to trade them in exchange for gift cards.
Firearms must be unloaded and placed in a container or box in the vehicle’s trunk.
Drivers will remain in their vehicles while law enforcement officers recover the firearm, no questions asked and no identification required.
If you turn over a handgun, rifle, shotgun, bump stock or glock switch, you are eligible to receive a $100 gift card.
Those who turn over automatic firearms of any type, semi-automatic rifles or ghost guns can receive a $200 gift card.
DLE officials said ammunition will not be accepted.
There is no limit to how many guns can be turned in but each person will be limited to receive a maximum of three gift cards total.
