MANOA, Hawaii (KHON2) — University of Hawaiʻi is inviting students and community members alike to learn the art of flower arranging for Valentine’s Day at a free flower arranging workshop held by UH Manoa’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources’ Home Garden Network.
The event will take place at the UH Manoa campus center on Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Attendees will use fresh flowers to make two floral arrangements, one for the attendee to keep and another to donate to the clients of Mental Health Kokua, a local nonprofit supporting community mental and emotional health.
“This event is meaningful as it unites people to celebrate both the beauty of our planet and the love within our community,” said event organizer Sothy Eng, who is also an associate professor and founder of the Home Garden Network. “Through small acts of kindness, such as sharing flowers with those who may not have the means to do so themselves or with cherished family members, we spread love and joy. Together, we create a vibrant event where people can celebrate self-love and their love for each other.”
The event is family-friendly and open to all skill levels and marks the fourth year of the partnership between HGN and Family Education Centers of Hawaii, Inc., a community program promoting parenting education and hands-on garden activities.
