Xevani, Xeyana Salanoa start for Samoa Women’s National Team vs Cook Islands

Hawaii’s Xevani and Xeyana Salanoa both getting starting jobs for the Samoa Women’s National Team against the Cook Islands in the OFC Women’s Nations Cup this past weekend.

Xeyana who substituted into their 1st match game just a few days prior, played well enough to earn her spot at the starting Goal Keeper against the Cook Islands.

Xeyana for her 2nd straight game did not allow a single goal by an opponent, as she has now held 1 and a half games scoreless.

For Xevani, for the 2nd straight match she was able to find the back of the net for Samoa. Xevani in just the 3rd minute of play against the Cook Islands had a shot from outside of the box that ended up being the 1st goal of the match.

Xevani did go down with an injury around the 25 minute mark in the 1st half.

Samoa ended up with the 3-0 win and are now in 2nd place in the Group A Standings.

Next up is against Tahiti on July 9th at 2pm HT on FIFA+. If Samoa can stay in the top 2 spots of their group, they will advance to the knockout phase.
