HONOLULU (KHON2) — An Attempted Murder has been opened following an early morning shooting on July 5 in Kalihi that left several men hospitalized, the Honolulu Police Department said.
According to authorities, five adult males between the ages of 18 and 35 were congregating in a parking lot when they believed they heard fireworks — only to realize several of them had been shot.
The incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m., with officials saying a red Jeep pickup truck had driven by the group and fired at them. There are no known suspects, and there is no further vehicle description, police said.
Four of the men had suffered gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital, HPD said. Their condition is currently unknown.
“To all Hawaiʻi communities, rise above violence and embrace the aloha spirit over conflict,” HPD said online.
Those with information on the shooting are urged to call 911 or visit any police station.
