HONOLULU (KHON2) — More than 600 years of Japanese blade making will be celebrated in Hawaii at the Seisuke Knife Festival.
WakeUp2Day’s Chris Latronic went live from the Queen Kapiolani Hotel for a preview with Seisuke knife makers, Tu David Phu and Will West, along with Sushi Chef Angie.
Since 2014, Seisuke Knife has brought together skilled artisans committed to curating exceptional handmade Japanese kitchen knives.
Spanning from Portland, Oregon, to Ishikawa, Japan, the company bridges traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation to share this culinary art globally.
Through collaborations with master blade smiths and celebrated chefs, Seisuke Knife offers an extensive range of premium kitchen knives to international markets, championing the heritage and quality of Japanese knife making.
What began as intimate anniversary celebrations at stores across Japan and the West Coast has evolved into annual festivals honoring the traditional art of Japanese knife making.
This June, Seisuke Knife makes its Hawaiʻi debut with its first festival on Oʻahu. The event will feature live forging demonstrations by Master Craftsmen Yu Kurosaki, Yoshimi Kato and Takumi Ikeda, alongside sushi demonstrations showcasing traditional techniques by Chefs Angie Lee an alum of Sushi Sho and of Tsuki Maki, and Yoshiki Hatano of Sushi Tonari.
