HONOLULU (KHON2) — At Island Pacific Academy (IPA) in Kapolei, themed classroom spaces designed for summertime enrichment bring learning alive for their students.
From creating digital music compositions to developing language skills, there are a variety of indoor and outdoor activities meant to enhance reading, math and STEM skills.
“We really enjoy being a program based in a project-based learning,” said Katie Metz, IPA Auxiliary Programs Director.
Students in kindergarten through 10th grade can express their creativity, strengthen critical thinking and make friends at one of the college preparatory school’s immersive summer sessions.
Program themes include the popular children’s animated character Bluey and the worlds of Dr. Seuss and Harry Potter.

In Hogwarts-style classrooms inspired by the wizarding world of Harry Potter, fourth-grade students will learn how to write letters and seal wax. Students are excited to make chocolate frogs and create their very own customized, magical wands.
“The kids really love it because they get to really experience what Harry did and how the wand chooses the wizard,” said Louisa Faulkner, a teacher aide at IPA.
Registration for Summer Enrichment, with full and half days available to choose from, is still open to both IPA and non-IPA students.
