HONOLULU (KHON2) — A serious hit-and-run collision occurred in Waikiki just after 10:45 a.m. on the morning of March 24, resulting in a juvenile being hospitalized in serious condition.
The collision occurred on Ala Moana Boulevard westbound before Atkinson Drive. A 38-year-old male driver was driving westbound on Ala Moana Boulevard with four passengers: a 28-year-old male, a 39-year-old male and two juveniles.
Police say the 38-year-old man then rear-ended a 42-year-old male and his three passengers, a 43-year-old female and two juveniles, who were at a red light. All of the 38-year-old’s occupants exited the vehicle, and the driver fled on foot.
He then returned to the scene and fled again, this time operating the vehicle.
One of the 38-year-old’s juvenile passengers was taken to Queen’s Medical Center in serious condition as a result of the incident. According to a medical professional, the juvenile passenger sustained substantial bodily injury.
The 38-year-old driver was then placed under arrest for Collisions Involving Substantial Injury.
The investigation is ongoing.
